Archaeologists in the Park

11th October 2007

A JCB digger turned up today at Meols Park, along with Clare and Helen who are archaeologists from the Liverpool Museum "Field Unit." to carry out a Test Dig, in between the playground and the football pitch area.

They were were test-pitting to try and find further areas for possible excavation. So far the sandy soil and high water table have been foiling their attempts at opening more trenches but they are hopeful that they will be able to open some more trenches at a later date........
